I traveled to Tern Island part of French Frigate Shoals in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. The remote island is home to thousands of nesting seabirds and the endangered Hawaiian monk seal. It is the largest atoll in the region and was extended during WWI to create a landing strip. The "Santa Bird" is a male Great Frigatebird (Fregata minor) attempting to impress a female. Hope she doesn't pop his bubble :)
