Cuyler Harbor San Miguel Island

Cuyler Harbor located on the east side of San Miguel Island was named in honor Richard Cuyler an officer of the U.S. Coast Survey by Lieut. James Alden who was in command of the survey in 1852. Typically a good anchorage for boats, but one needs to very aware of the wind direction as noted by many historic shipwreck reports that describe vessels dragging their anchors and going ashore.
